Specific for the temperature-controlled industry, the show was an excellent opportunity for Solomon Commercials to demonstrate it’s industry-leading build quality and design innovation, with a 12T vehicle for Castell Howell and a lightweight 3.5T vehicle destined for RDS. Both vehicles drew a significant amount of interest over the two days.
Along with the show was the annual TCS&D Awards held on a Wednesday evening. Solomon has been a winner on the night for the past 4 years, and 2017 was no different, with Solomon coming away with the award for Innovation. As with all the categories, the competition was strong but Solomon’s’ revolutionary and forward-thinking design for a cyclist safety lighting system caught the judge’s attention. Designed to prevent accidents where cyclists can be caught under the vehicle, or knocked off their bicycles, the system warns of the vehicle’s movements in a clear manner where currently it can be difficult to tell the movement of a vehicle. Discussions are ongoing with TFL and the DFT, with the aim of trialing the system this winter. As well as the cycle safety system, the judges also took into account Solomon’s strong history of product innovation in the sector, most famous of which is the Solomon Slipstream system, the most advanced aerodynamic design in the industry.
