Sainsburys independent testing
An independent analysis carried out by Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Home Delivery Fleet Management Team, at the Millbrook Vehicle Proving Ground.
The aim of the day was to investigate the aerodynamic benefit of the NEW 2013 Solomon slipstream body on fuel economy compared with a standard rectangular box design.
This was carried out by conducting tests at three key speeds throughout the day to mirror those operationally used– at 20mph, 35mph and 50mph, with the Slipstream Aerodynamic roof masked, and then de-masked, measuring and calculating the percentage change.
Fuel measuring was carried out using “brim to brim” techniques, with ml accurate delivery, whilst utilising the vehicle cruise control functions at each speed on each test to minimise the effect of driver behaviour.
Throughout the day a second vehicle was used as a “constant” so that any change in conditions effecting the test could also be calculated.
All tests were carried out on the High Speed Oval at Millbrook with the test vehicle and constant vehicle circulating at opposite sides of the track to remove the effects of air turbulence within the test.
Vehicle tested as a standard square box body at 20mph. Vehicle retested as the Full Slipstream design.
Vehicle tested as a standard square box body at 35mph. Vehicle retested as the Full Slipstream design.
Vehicle tested as a standard square box body at 50mph. Vehicle retested as the Full Slipstream design.
|Conclusion. 7.23% average fuel saving over the three speeds independently tested! Choose Slipstream aerodynamics by Solomon to save fuel , save money and reduce your impact on the environment.|
