Solomon Proud to Continue Partnership with Holdsworth
Solomon Commercials are proud to continue their long-standing relationship with Holdsworth Foods, most recently providing 14 new insulated box bodies on Isuzu chassis. The bodywork provides a dual temperature capability with shelving systems, the result of constant development and communication to ensure the vehicles are the most efficient possible for the Holdsworth operation. The below press release, originally from www.globalcoldchainnews.com outlines more detail of the vehicles.
Tideswell, Derbyshire, UK: Holdsworth Foods has added 14 new Isuzu Forward 7.5 tonners to its 120-vehicle, all-refrigerated fleet. It also has five more Isuzu 7.5 tonners on order for delivery in September .
Ian Mycock, general manager, Holdsworth Foods, says: “Our first four 7.5 tonne Isuzus were originally purchased in 2015 as we wanted to assess them for payload and reliability.
“Over the subsequent two years, these Isuzus have proved to be really good value and economical to operate, as well as being favoured by our drivers for their overall performance.
“As a result, when we needed to implement the latest fleet replacement programme at 7.5 tonne, Isuzu fitted the bill perfectly,” Mycock says.
The 14 Isuzu Forward rigids have Isuzu’s Easyshift automatic gearbox. Bodies are by Solomon with multi-compartments with the frozen section at the rear of the body and chilled compartment at the front. Refrigeration is provided by Carrier Xarios MT systems.
Payload and driver acceptability were the significant factors in the specification as well as national backup service from Isuzu.
“The national Isuzu Care programme is well-established and extremely professional in operation. Having had two years’ experience of the Isuzu support, I can honestly say that their approach to supporting customers is absolutely first-class,” Mycock says.
Holdsworth Foods expects to operate the vehicles for five years doing 50,000km a year.
HRVS in Sheffield supplied the trucks which are supported by a five year repair and maintenance contract through Isuzu.
